Cristiano Ronaldo's well taken free-kick earned the Spanish Champions Real Madrid back to back FIFA World Club Cup glory against a stubborn Grêmio side in Abu Dhabi.

After a boring first 45 minutes which saw Madrid miss a couple  of chances to take the lead, Benzima, Ronaldo and Isco all missed the chance to hand Madrid the lead. Ronaldo stepped up at the 53rd minute to break the deadlock with a super free-kick directed to the left bottom corner.

The Portuguese international who recently equaled Leo Messi's five times ballon d'Or winning record after receiveing the 2017 edition of the prestigious award, showed why he is the man made for big events. The victory saw Madrid win their third FIFA club world cup since 2014 equaling their La liga rival Barcelona.

Grêmio, who beat the Mexican side Pachuca to secure a place in Saturday’s final, were then forced to go on the attack but lacked any real threat but it was Madrid who almost hit the net again with Luka Modric's 20-yards effort which the goalkeeper pushed away.
