Hennessey Venom & Bugatti Chiron Lead Top 10 Fastest Cars in 2018

10 fastest cars in 2018

2018 has seen a lot of revolutions in the auto industries where super speed cars are now been built. So many auto companies like Volkswagen and others are at the fore front on the revolution. here is are 10 of the fastest cars existing with their various prices.

#10. TVR Cebera Speed 12: 240MPH
TVR Cebera Speed 12

TOP Spee: 240mph
Price:

By 1998 the car had been renamed the TVR Speed 12 and their GT1 racer was almost ready to go. TVR wanted to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but that never happened. However, the Speed 12 GTS did manage to compete in a few races in the FIA GT Championship in the GT1 class, though sudden rule changes caused by advanced high-cost purpose built racers such as Porsche 911 GT1, Nissan R390 and Toyota GT-One and the subsequent demise of the class in other championships suddenly rendered the Speed 12 obsolete.[citation needed] In order that their work not go to waste, TVR immediately set about creating the road-going Speed 12, although the project would not be completed for another year.

#9. McLaren F1: 242.8MPH
McLaren

Top speed: 242.8mph
Price (when new): £540,000

The F1 remains one of the fastest production cars ever made; as of July 2013 it is succeeded by very few cars, including the Koenigsegg Agera R,[34] the Bugatti Veyron, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, the Hennessey Venom GT and the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. However, all of the higher top speed machines use forced induction to reach their respective top speeds, whereas the McLaren F1 is naturally aspirated

#7. Porsche GT9: 254mph
Porsche GT9 - 254mph

Top Speed: 254mph
Price: £540,000

At the 2011 Essen Motor Show, 9ff brought out the third version of the car, the GT9-CS, built as a one-off. This car used the Stage 1 engine, thus producing 738 bhp (550 kW; 748 PS), and was designed specifically as a track-day car.

Based (extremely) loosely upon the 997-generation Porsche 911 GT3, the 9ff GT9-R is one of the most extreme iterations of the Porsche 911 one can buy. It is essentially a racing car made legal for the road - as evinced by its 1,120bhp 4.0-litre flat-six twin-turbo engine.

#6: Koenigsegg CCXR: 540MPH
 Koenigsegg CCXR

Top Speed: 240mph

The 2010 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita is one of the fastest rides on the planet, reaching speeds of 254 miles per hour. And only two were ever made.

But what was just as impressive when one recently rolled onto the auction block in Monterey, Calif., was the fact that the 1,018-horsepower hypercar was once owned by boxing champ Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

The knockout whip sold to the highest bidder for a cool $2.6 million.

#6. Bugatti Veyron: 253mph
Bugatti Veyron - 253mph

Top Speed:253mph

The Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 is a mid-engined sports car, designed and developed in Germany by the Volkswagen Group and manufactured in Molsheim, France, by Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.

German inspection officials recorded an average top speed of the original version of 408.47 km/h (253.81 mph)[6] during test sessions on Volkswagen Group's private Ehra-Lessien test track on 19 April 2005.

#5. SSC Ultimate Aero: 257

Top speed: 257mph
Price: $650,000

Simulation and testing at NASA's Virginia facility had shown the Ultimate Aero TT theoretically capable of attaining approximately 273 mph (439 km/h), sufficient to surpass the production car record-holding Bugatti Veyron's 253.7 mph (408.3 km/h).

A 12-mile (19 km) stretch of U.S. Route 93 in Nevada was closed on March 21, 2007 to allow SSC to test the Ultimate Aero TT, but the attempt was called off due to bad weather, and an effort the following day failed due to sub-optimal conditions, with test driver Rick Doria reporting wheel-spin at speeds above 190 mph (306 km/h).

Six months later SSC announced they had established a new production car speed record of 256.18 mph (412.28 km/h) in West Richland, WA on September 13, 2007. In accordance with FIA Speed Records rules it was an average of two runs in opposite directions, 257.44 mph (414.31 km/h) and 254.91 mph (410.24 km/h). The results were verified by the Guinness World Records on October 9, 2007. SSC is currently one of only 26 automobile manufacturers in history to have held the record

#4. 2017 BUGATTI CHIRON: 261 MPH

2017 BUGATTI CHIRON

Top Speed:261MPH
Price: £1.9 million
The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engined two-seated sports car developed and manufactured in Molsheim, France, by Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. as the successor to the Bugatti Veyron.

The Chiron's top speed is electronically limited to 420 km/h (261 mph) for safety reasons. The anticipated full top speed of the Bugatti Chiron is believed to be around 463 km/h (288 mph).

At the 2017 IAA show in Frankfurt, Bugatti announced that the Chiron broke the record of fastest 0–400–0 km/h (0–249–0 mph), completing it in 41.96 seconds in a span of 3.2 kilometres (2 miles) at the Ehra-Lessien high-speed oval. The car was driven by Colombian racing driver Juan Pablo Montoya

#3. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport: 269.86MPH

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

Top speed: 269.86mph
Price: £2million

The Bugatti Veyron was the first production car to exceed 250mph, but the flagship 1,184bhp Super Sport with its speed limiter removed, raised this figure to 269.86mph in 2010.

Most importantly, in the context of a ‘who’s fastest’ list, the Bugatti has achieved its astonishing top speed both ways across a measured mile – as required by Guinness World Record's official certification process. While the Agera RS can out run a Veyron, the VW Group's answer to a hypercar held the title for seven years, which is an achievement all in itself.

The genius of the Veyron is that it makes insane speed seem so effortless, with its quad-turbo W16 engine doing the legwork, while the driver sits back in the luxuriously appointed cabin. We wait with eager anticipation to see whether the Bugatti Chiron will turn the wick up even further (once suitable tyres have been engineered).

#2. Hennessey Venom: 270mph
Hennessey Venom

Top speed: 270mph
Price: £750,000

Based on a modified Lotus Exige and packing a mighty 1,244bhp twin-turbocharged version of the Chevrolet Corvette’s V8 engine, the Hennessey Venom is capable of an astonishing 270mph. It proved that fact in 2014 on the tarmac of the Space Shuttle runway at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Following the spectacular record-breaking speed of the Hennessey Venom GT in 2014, during which the hardtop coupe achieved a top speed of 270.4 mph (435.3 km/h) at the Kennedy Space Center, a record speed that remains unparalleled to this day, Hennessey has added yet another milestone.

The open top version, the Venom GT Spyder, now also officially holds the world record. The open-top super sports car reached a maximum speed of 265.6 mph (427.4 km/h) at the US Navy’s 2.9 mile long runway in Lemoore, California, making it the fastest convertible sports car in the world – beating the previous record held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Vitesse by over 11 mph.

#1. Koenigsegg Agera RS
Koenigsegg Agera RS

Top speed: 277.9mph

Price: £1.5million

On 4 November 2017, Koenigsegg made the production car speed record with an Agera RS recording an average speed of 277.9 mph (447.2 km/h). The car achieved a speed of 284.6 mph (458.0 km/h) during its northbound run and 271.19 mph (436.44 km/h) during its southbound (return run). Official confirmation of the record by Guinness World Records still awaits.

The car was driven by Koenigsegg test driver Niklas Lilja. The record run was made in opposite directions on an 11 miles (18 km) section of Nevada State Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump, United States which was closed specifically for that purpose
